Description

Phoenix Whitte is the primary protagonist of the series The Place of Angels, written by ArouraPhoenix.

Being born into the care of a human trainer before the Liberation, this Alolan Ninetales/Zoroark hybrid spent most of his life on the pitch. As all his teammates and even his own parents hail from all corners of the world, Phoenix learned the concept of inclusion and acceptance at an early age. As such, he tries to show his best self to everyone he meets.

Off the pitch, Phoenix is a reserved, polite, and mild-mannered individual who tries very carefully not to make unnecessary enemies or trigger pointless fights. If he finds himself to have inconvenienced another by accident, he will often go out of his way in an attempt to make amends. However, as a result of being trainer-raised, Phoenix had few opportunities to pursue his own personal relationships and develop his social skills, making him somewhat awkward in public.

On the pitch, Phoenix is the complete opposite. Because both of his parents had been bred for different forms of combat, Phoenix himself possessed immense potential for battle. From his mother, a Ninetales descended from an old ninja clan, Phoenix learned much of his evasive and supplementary skills, while the bulk of his offensive talents were nurtured by his father, a Zoroark bred by and into the German military.

Both in battle and in real life, Phoenix has a habit of keeping his cards close to his chest and never letting others see more than he can keep from giving up. Since joining the ranks of Plaisir, he has made efforts to loosen up and make more friends, finding early success in Luna, Lazarus, and Amaretto.

Sexuality

Like his personality, Phoenix likes to keep his cards close, hiding behind his quiet exterior something of a wild animal in the bedroom. Although he has had only a small handful of sexual relations before Plaisir, he is by no means clueless.

With customers and newer relations, Phoenix is generally more reserved and vanilla in bed, usually taking on more of a submissive role. With closer friends and companions, Phoenix can find himself comfortable enough to exercise his more dominant tendencies. In such cases, he is often slow and methodical, making heavy use of his natural abilities to further his partners' experience.

A common tool for him is his Confuse Ray, which is often used to plant suggestions in his partner's mind, as a form of subtle hypnosis. Phoenix also enjoys using his Fairy-typing in concert, as he has found it to have certain aphrodisiac properties. His Ice-typing also sees heavy use in certain situations; in addition to enhancing sensitivity to touch, Phoenix is especially fond of fabricating ice constructs, either to restrain or further stimulate his partner.

History

Origins

Phoenix was born on the island of Oahu into the care of a trainer named Marcus Whitte by his parents Sumiko and Hunter. Enamored with his parents' respective performances in the competitive circuit, Phoenix soon took after them both, displaying early talent for competitive fighting. Heavily influenced by both his parents, he soon developed his own unique fighting style of skirting and probing his opponents' defenses before closing in with heavier attacks while his opponents were exhausted.

The vast majority of his formative years were spent moving from place to place, rarely staying in one country or state for very long. Because of this, and his personal devotion to his training, Phoenix made next to no friends outside of his teammates. This would change sometime after the Liberation when Marcus returned to his family home just off Long Beach, California. After two seasons, Phoenix would help lead his team to the championship of the California Pokemon League, scoring the finishing hit against the defending champion.

After several more years, Phoenix, with the encouragement of both his parents and his trainer, enrolled in the medical program at UCLA.

College Life

Phoenix's social deficiencies were not helped in his college years by his status as a Champion Pokemon. Many of the human students had little interest, instead seeing him as a local celebrity, while the few Pokemon students would be intimidated by his reputation. Because of this, Phoenix began using his limited illusion abilities to mask his appearance, leading to a certain degree of social insecurity.

His academic performance on the other hand soon garnered him positive attention from the school's athletic department. Hoping to launch a new College Battling team, the directors for the athletics department approached Phoenix with an offer: work part-time with the athletic medical staff to earn hands-on experience, in exchange for spearheading the new team. Phoenix would eventually agree to the offer, joining the Battling team where his experience as a Champion Pokemon finally helped him overcome his social inadequacies. However, he would continue to have trouble connecting with other students outside of these exploits.

After four years, Phoenix eventually graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BSN.

Joining Plaisir

Life stagnated for Phoenix after his graduation, as he found himself searching for opportunities in a human-dominated job market. This would change five months later when the Cafe Plaisir Road Trip arrived in LA. A brief encounter with Plaisir waiters October and Chai would ultimately lead to Phoenix inquiring about a job, as encouraged by both October and Chai, and a third member of the Road Trip, Quippie, whom Phoenix would meet during a late night walk on the beach.

After applying, Phoenix flew out to Oklahoma the following month for his interview, quickly finding himself hired to the Cafe's Night shift.
