Origin'European'
NationalitySomewhere in eastern Europe, possibly Ukraine or Yugoslavia or their equivalent.

He's larger than average and has blue colouration, due to being a Mountain Sylveon - a variant from his homeland of Eastern Europe, which also is the cause of his extreme floofiness. He's well muscled due to years of training that he refuses to give up on just because he's a civilian nowadays.

He speaks in a silly, impossible-to-place Eastern-European accent, and is cheerful and welcoming... when he's not having war flashbacks. Petier was effectively a child soldier conscripted into a war he wanted no part of, and was shipped around from European country to European country, which left him with a murky past, a lack of connection to any one particular place, and an insecurity towards his own nationality. His sweet, kind-hearted nature shines through, even though he has some form of PTSD and needs help for it. Despite his often-comedic airs, he's a well-liked member of staff, and an always-reliable member of the security team. He can speak twenty-three languages with varying degrees of incomprehensibility, and swear in a further eighty-seven.

'Nationality' and Origins

The general idea was that, with wild pokemon being so powerful and dangerous (not to mention the existence of Legendary Pokemon), The Old Country is a lot more wild than what we know of as Eastern Europe today. As a result, the dark, spooky woods cover the whole area, and borders are more 'suggestions' than hard-and-fast rules. Who's going to draw a line or build a wall cutting through a forest that you can't even cross?

Lots of people, that's who. A result of this is that there's constant scrabbling for what little resources are out there, resulting in fractured states splitting off from one another, fighting, re-uniting, and splitting again. It's the sort of situation where you'll wake up one day to find out that a border line has been drawn through your living-room and you need a passport to go to the kitchen. The country Petier was born in probably only existed for a few years before being conquered, liberated, federated, and conquered again. Combine that with his constant patrolling and endless political juggling, and it's hard for him to even concieve of 'home' as a single, solid, unmoving place. As hectic as Plaisir is, it's by far the calmest and most stable posting of his career.

Living Situation

Although it's yet to appear canonically, he probably lives in the nearby town with a little old lady who's deaf as a post and sometimes forgets that he's a lodger and not a pet - but, hey, free room and board, all the head-pats he can get his ribbons on, and she doesn't ask questions about what he's been doing out in the woodshed...

Whatever remains of his paypacket at the end of each month, he saves a small portion, and sends the rest to his dear old mother. The address might change, but he knows how to make sure it always finds its way home safely, alongside letters and occasional trinkets or mementoes from his friends.
