Captivate is Café Plaisir's prime performance venue. It is used for music, dance, burlesque, strip shows, and anything else requiring a performer and an audience. The room is considerably large, taking up a central space in Plaisir's function block, and it is built with just the right mix of exposure for the performers and privacy for the guests. Any employee of Plaisir who wants to perform for a crowd is all but guaranteed to end up on stage in Captivate.

Description

On the ground floor of Captivate is the stage, a multi-tiered array of guest seating, and the private booths. The stage projects far out into the room, leading to a round stage-lit platform adorned with a stripper pole. Two smaller platforms with similar poles are set even farther out. To the right of the stage is a platform with a grand piano.

The ground floor seating is divided into four sections. Nearest the stage is a group of small tables, each with a single chair. Clustered around the central stripper pole, and in rows towards the back, is an array of couch seating. In the very back, more couches are located under the middle floor balcony, offering a modicum of privacy. On the right of the room, a well-stocked bar counter fills most of the wall, giving the fourth seating option in the form of its bar stools.

Also located on the ground floor are the private booths, small enclaves with black curtains for complete privacy to the outside. When these are in use, they have no line of sight to the stage — but that is the exact idea.

A staircase by the bar counter leads to the middle floor balcony, with even more couch seating along the back and left walls. A single throne-like seat occupies a position of honor in the near-right corner. The very back wall has four tinted windows, partially slanted to merge with the ceiling. These connect to VIP booths accessible from outside, including via a hallway between the middle two windows.

Despite its reputation for enabling debauchery, Captivate is capable of being very well-lit. The room is filled with light fixtures (typically on a dim setting), and the left and right edges of the ceiling have long plate glass windows, one of which can be looked into from the Picnic Area.
