The Waiter's Lounge is a staff-only room in the central core of the Plaisir building, directly above the Main Bar. It serves as a dining room and kitchen for employees who need it, a quiet social meeting space, and generally an oasis from the chaos and noise of the Café. While intimate acts are not explicitly prohibited here as in the Main Bar and The Lounge, they are also almost never done within the Waiter's Lounge, as it is the one place where employees can count on catching a break from their work activities.
The room is accessible by two doorways: one on the east leading to the bedroom block, and one on the west for the corridor leading to the administrative offices, staff bedrooms and ultimately the upper level of Captivate.
Description
Everything in the Waiter's Lounge is designed to give employees the facilities of a functioning home, especially for the many employees who live on premises in the basement bedrooms. To that end, the south wall of the Waiter's Lounge is dominated by a fully-equipped kitchen setup, with a glass-topped bar counter and even a large window looking out over the front lawn. The north wall has a row of windows that face the vegetable garden attached to the Picnic Area. On the west is also a row of large bookshelves, free for staff to access.
In respect to the wide variety of species that work at Plaisir, and with essentially no human visitors at all to this room, the Waiter's Lounge contains a staggering five different types of seating. The bar counter in the southeast has a row of stools, there are couches and padded chairs at the northwest, and then small cushions, wooden chairs and large cushions are arranged around tables of varying sizes.
For the most part, employees who want to make use of the dining facilities have to bring (and possibly cook) their own food. However, in the mid-morning each day, the Waiter's Lounge serves a hotel-style self-serve breakfast for all employees awake enough to receive it. Importantly, the breakfast station does include a waffle maker.
