Firenze frowned right back, but patiently, "That's just it, October. We all need someone to tell us things that we might not want to hear. I know you don't listen to Pouncer, I've seen you don't listen to your friends and so you might as well listen to me." Then, putting a paw to the end of October's muzzle so that October couldn't interrupt him, Firenze went on to say, "Whilst I might not have decades on top of centuries of experience to call upon, myself, I have met and been lectured by enough Ninetales who have to convey some of those lessons to you." He took his paw away from October's muzzle and smiled pleasantly, "The first of which is that any body is a marvellous thing. The magnificent machine that is a Ninetales' body perhaps more than most. Yet that magnificent machine will not last the centuries it can if you will insist upon gumming up its workings with tar, October."
Another personal little piece I've managed to struggle to write since I quit smoking as a new years resolution, this tells something of the tale of the ongoing struggle that will be faced by the in-world October in the weeks to come (who unlike the real world October, ain't quite quitting any time soon - see the timeline) as his smoking habit becomes a all-new kind of Pokemon battle between two of those he regards most fondly indeed...
Yet that... is a story for another time...
...Right now, we've got the story of an intervention. An intervention by a glorious, golden overlord who cares for all his charges - but who seems to find an undisciplined, unhealthy Ninetales particuarly galling. Yet whatever will he do about it? What shall be his latest moves in his ongoing campaign to make me a better Ninetales of October..?
