It was morning in the mountains, somewhere around Arizona, far enough up that the air was crisp and clear, enough to allow a brilliant light through the peak-carved clouds. The RV Plaisir was a large, dark, travelling tourbus-cum-hotel, which tended to dwarf the vehicles around it. Yet here, parked in a little layby in a grand mountain pass, nestled in the bosom of the Rocky Mountains, it seemed small and insignificant indeed.
Firenze was alone.
And after a wait, here it is, part 2 of the Badlands! As part of my 'smaller parts released more often' initiative, this chapter fragment is around ten thousand words. Is it worth getting this out sooner? Is this part more digestable than my usual 30k main-chapter epics? Is it unsatisfying compared to those usual small novellas? Let me know in the comments!
Drama deepens and the true extent of the disaster awaiting the gang in the Rocky Mountains begins to make itself apparent at last.
