The country Petier was born in probably only existed for a few years before being conquered, liberated, federated, and conquered again. Combine that with his constant patrolling and endless political juggling, and it's hard for him to even concieve of 'home' as a single, solid, unmoving place. As hectic as Plaisir is, it's by far the calmest and most stable posting of his career.
